Salesforce reported a record second quarter, launched Claudeforce with Anthropic, closed the Contentful and Fin acquisitions, held Dreamforce, and had a global outage in the middle of it. Here is each story in date order and what it means for Salesforce customers.
Salesforce packed a lot into six weeks. Between late August and mid-September it reported quarterly results, announced a new partnership with Anthropic, completed two acquisitions, ran its biggest conference of the year and had a global outage in the middle of that conference.
Here is each story in date order. Figures come from Salesforce's own announcements and filings, linked at the bottom, unless we say otherwise.
Salesforce said the US Department of War can now use Agentforce 360 through Missionforce National Security, with IL5 authorisation. That is the US defence cloud level for sensitive but unclassified work. For most commercial customers this changes nothing, but it shows where Salesforce is pushing Agentforce: into regulated, high-trust environments.
Salesforce reported results for the quarter ended 31 July 2026.
| Metric | Q2 FY27 | Change year on year |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $11.3 billion | up 11% |
| Subscription and support revenue | $10.8 billion | up 12% |
| Current remaining performance obligation (cRPO) | $33.5 billion | up 14% |
| Non-GAAP operating margin | 34.1% | |
| Free cash flow | $1.1 billion | up 81% |
| Agentforce and Data 360 ARR | about $3.9 billion | up 210% |
| Agentforce ARR | more than $1.5 billion | up 240% |
Revenue includes $456 million from Informatica, which Salesforce now owns. Salesforce raised its full-year revenue guidance to $46.1–46.4 billion. It said part of that raise comes from the then-pending Contentful and Fin deals, which are covered below.
cRPO counts contracted revenue expected over the next 12 months, so it is the best single number for where the business is heading. Growth of 14% is ahead of revenue growth of 11%. The AI numbers are Salesforce's own measures and are not directly comparable with other vendors'.
On the same day, Salesforce and Anthropic announced Claudeforce. It comes in two parts:
The announcement also said Claude becomes Slack's default AI model, powering Slackbot and other Slack AI features. If your team uses Slack and Salesforce together, Claude is now in the path of both. That makes Claude's status worth watching alongside Slack's.
Salesforce agreed in June to buy Contentful, the headless content platform, for about $1.5 billion in cash (net of shares Salesforce already held). The deal closed on 1 September, according to a Salesforce SEC filing cited in coverage. Salesforce plans to make Contentful the content layer for Agentforce and its "Headless 360" strategy. Contentful customers keep their existing contracts. Roadmap and future pricing now sit with Salesforce. Contentful's status is tracked separately on isuptime.
Salesforce completed its roughly $3.6 billion purchase of Fin, the company formerly called Intercom, on 10 September. The deal had been announced on 15 June. Fin sells an AI customer-service agent. Salesforce says Fin has more than 30,000 customers and resolves 76% of support volume end to end on average, which is Fin's own figure. Fin now sits within Salesforce's AI Labs, led by co-founder and CEO Eoghan McCabe, and keeps serving existing customers. If you run Intercom Messenger or Fin, Intercom's status is still the page to check.
Dreamforce ran at Moscone Center in San Francisco. Headline launches included Agentforce Coworker, new job-ready agents, Koa (Salesforce's first CRM reasoning model, built on NVIDIA Nemotron), long-horizon agents that work towards goals over days or weeks, and a set of Slack features Salesforce calls Slackforce. We cover the launches in detail in Dreamforce 2026: what Salesforce announced.
On the second day of Dreamforce, Salesforce had a service disruption across multiple instances in all regions. It started at 12:50 AM PDT on 16 September. Salesforce said requests were stalling while waiting on an internal login service. Users saw severe delays, errors and failed logins, and some could not open support cases. Service was restored region by region over the day. The full timeline is in the Salesforce outage of 16 September 2026.
