Wolverine was September's best-selling game in the US
Marvel's Wolverine launched on 15 September as a PS5 exclusive at $70. In Circana's US data for September, published in October, it was:
- the best-selling game of the month by dollar sales, ahead of NBA 2K27;
- Sony's biggest launch month for a game it published since Helldivers 2 in February 2024, according to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella;
- already the 11th best-selling game of 2026 in the US, with only 19 days of sales counted.
It also moved hardware. US PS5 dollar sales rose 43% and unit sales rose 22% compared with September 2025. Over the same month, Xbox Series unit sales fell 27% and Switch 2 unit sales fell 14%.
Some people credited Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders for the PS5 bump. Piscatella disagreed: "IF Grand Theft Auto VI was the reason for the US PS5 unit sales bump in Sept (and I don't think it primarily was)". He saw Wolverine as the main driver, with NBA 2K27 and GTA VI likely helping.
Sony itself hasn't published a sales figure for Wolverine. Any unit number you see is an estimate.
The Prism Collection: transparent controllers are back
On 28 October Sony revealed the Prism Collection, transparent designs for the DualSense controller and PS5 console covers in three colours: Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray.
| Item | US | UK | EU | Japan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DualSense controller | $84.99 | £74.99 | €84.99 | ¥12,480 |
| PS5 console cover | $74.99 | £64.99 | €74.99 | ¥9,980 |
- Pre-orders: 10 November 2026 at 10am local time. In the US that's 7am PT / 10am ET on direct.playstation.com.
- Launch: from 4 February 2027, with dates varying by country.
- Covers are sold mainly direct from PlayStation, with limited quantities at some retailers.
Sony's post doesn't say which PS5 models the covers fit, so check before you pre-order if you have an older console. Pre-order days for limited PlayStation hardware tend to strain PlayStation Direct, so if the shop won't load on the morning of 10 November, check PSN's live status, which includes PlayStation Direct.
PS Plus: October's catalog and November's games
Extra and Premium members got a strong October. Mafia: The Old Country, Horizon Forbidden West and Mycopunk arrived on 20 October, followed by Tales of Arise and Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2. Premium also added Dino Crisis 2 and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition.
November's Monthly Games, announced on 28 October, are Dead Island 2, Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered and Monster Train 2 (PS5 only). They're available from 3 to 30 November. October's games (F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2) can be claimed until 2 November. Our full November PS Plus guide has the details.

What to watch next
- 10 November: Prism Collection pre-orders open.
- Sony's July–September results, due in November. They will show whether the Wolverine bump in the US held up globally. Sony's last report, for April–June, showed record PlayStation monthly active users but PS5 shipments down from a year earlier.
- October sales data. Early UK figures suggest PS5 sales fell year on year in October, so September may have been a spike rather than a trend.
- Season launches. New seasons such as Modern Warfare 4's on 6 November bring big login surges. If you can't connect on launch day, our guide Is PSN down? explains how to tell whether it's PSN or the game's own servers.
