In September 2026 Asana put AI Teammates and its new Asana Dash assistant into every paid plan, with a monthly allowance of AI requests, and launched Service Management, Command and Client Management. Here is what each one is and what the new AI allowance means.
Asana announced Agentic Work Management at its Work Innovation Summit in London on 4 June 2026. It described it as an "operating system for human-agent teams", where people and AI agents work from the same plan, context and governance. Some pieces were available that day. The rest was promised "in the coming months".
In September the rest arrived. Between 17 and 28 September Asana put AI into every paid plan and launched three new products built on the same foundation.
| When | What happened |
|---|---|
| 28 May 2026 | Asana acquired StackAI, which it says lets agents act in systems outside Asana, such as CRMs and ERPs. |
| 4 June 2026 | Agentic Work Management announced. AI Teammates and AI Studio available. Dash, Service Management, Command and Client Management were promised for later. |
| 3 September 2026 | In its Q2 results, Asana said Agentic Work Management would bring AI Teammates, AI Studio and Dash to every paid tier during the quarter. |
| 17 September 2026 | Agentic Work Management goes live for paid plans. |
| 22 September 2026 | Asana Service Management launches. |
| 24 September 2026 | Command by Asana launches. |
| 28 September 2026 | Asana Client Management becomes generally available. |
Asana's 17 September announcement names three parts:
Asana's pricing page sets the included allowances:
| Plan | AI Teammates and Dash | AI Studio credits |
|---|---|---|
| Personal (free) | Not included | Not included |
| Starter | 5 requests per user per month, up to 50 per account | 50K per billing account per month |
| Advanced | 5 requests per user per month, up to 50 per account | 75K per billing account per month |
| Enterprise / Enterprise+ | 5 requests per user per month, up to 250 per account | 200K per billing account per month |
Asana defines an AI request as "one successful unit of work executed by AI Teammates or Asana Dash, which share a single pool of AI requests". Administrative tasks in Dash do not count against it.
The caps are low. A 200-seat Advanced customer gets the same 50 requests a month as a 10-seat one. The allowance is clearly meant as a free trial of agents, with heavier use paid for by consumption.
CFO Aziz Megji explained the reasoning to CFO Dive on 4 September. The base AI tools went into the paid tiers from mid-September without changing list prices. Asana expects this to cost about $1.2 million in revenue and about 150 basis points of gross margin in the second half of the year. Revenue from new AI Teammates sales is now recognised as customers use their requests, not spread evenly across the contract.
"We're seeding that usage deliberately, investing to drive adoption first, with the expectation that stronger retention, seat expansion, increasing consumption follow over time," Megji said.
Asana's figures support the bet: AI products drove about 25% of net new ARR in Q2, up from 17% in Q1. Asana also says customers who use AI Studio and AI Teammates retain better and expand faster.
Asana Service Management (22 September) handles internal requests to IT, HR, facilities, legal and finance. Requests arrive through a portal, Slack or email and land in shared queues. According to Asana, a 24/7 AI agent resolves routine requests such as password resets and access requests from a knowledge base, and resolved requests become new knowledge articles. Complex requests can become full Asana projects. Asana has not published pricing and asks interested customers to book a demo.
Command by Asana (24 September) is a planning and delivery system for product and engineering teams. It collects context from meeting notes, Slack, GitHub, issue trackers and codebases to write specs and tickets. It gives coding agents fuller requirements, and it tracks the scope, dependencies and risks of a release. Existing customers are asked to contact their account manager.
Asana Client Management (28 September) is for agencies and professional services firms. It includes a branded client portal, AI meeting transcripts and summaries, a client directory showing account health and renewals, capacity planning, and four client-focused AI Teammates. It comes with a 14-day free trial.
Agentic features change what "Asana is working" means.
